Police charged a 40-year-old man on Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run that injured a woman in Mebane earlier this year.

Robert Michael Webster, 40, of 7812 East Washington St., was charged in connection with the hit-and-run that injured 45-year-old April Baker Coombs.

Officials said Coombs was driving a scooter on South Fifth Street in Mebane when she was struck from behind by a vehicle around 12:15 a.m. on January 8.

Webster was charged with felony hit and run causing serious injury or death and driving with a revoked license, according to a news release.

Police arrested Webster after seizing a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup truck which they believe to be the suspect vehicle.

Webster was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is slated for Wednesday
