It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … In July? From Sunday, July 17th – Saturday, July 23rd, businesses in downtown Mocksville with be decked out for the holidays, and many will be offering sales and specials to help you get your holiday shopping off to an early start.
“This event is a fun way to incorporate all of the downtown businesses together because we are all in this together,” said Angela Sgarlata, co-owner of Scarlett’s Unique Boutique, which is coordinating Christmas in July. “Gail (Scarlett, founding owner of the boutique) held an event for the Boutique last year, but we wanted to make it bigger and better this year by including the entire downtown. We hope this will become an annual event.”
“We really want to bring the downtown together and to promote each other’s businesses as well as the continuing revitalization of the downtown area,” said Teresa Reaves, who is also a co-owner of Scarlett’s Unique Boutique.
Mocksville- Not Just a Location, but a Destination
“We recently had a customer who lives in Lewisville that made a daytrip of shopping and dining in Mocksville,” Reaves added. “The downtown has become a destination, which is amazing to me.”
Aubrey Draughn, owner of Honor Darling, echoed the sentiment. “Downtown Mocksville has truly grown into the perfect place for shopping, dining, and fellowship with friends and family.”
Styled Gatherings owner, Marcie Appelt, who moved her shop from Yadkinville Road to Depot Street two months ago, is happy to be downtown. “Downtown Mocksville is so much more fun, I’m really excited about the revitalization going on.”
Shops that will be in the holiday spirit include: The Book Rack, Endless Possibilities, The Factory Coffeehouse, 4 Oaks, Honor Darling Boutique, Hyperion Vapes (formally CW Vapes), Main Street Canines, Miss Judy’s Dolls, My Friends Place, Scarlett’s Unique Boutique, Scoops Ice Cream, Styled Gatherings, Twins Upholstery, Total Real Estate, and Wicked Salon.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus …and he is vacationing in Mocksville. Expect sightings of him at downtown businesses throughout the week, but don’t look for the red suit. Santa will be decked out in his favorite summer attire – shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. Grab your camera and stop by the garden at Scarlett’s Unique Boutique on Saturday, July 23rd from 1-3 pm to take your picture with him.

Endless Possibilities, operated by Milling Manor Inc., is a unique non-profit volunteer-run thrift shop that benefits people with disabilities. The shop sells items hand-crafted by adults with special needs, refinished furniture, and a wide variety of donated items. The shop is offering many beautiful Christmas items as well as 25% off furniture; 50% off framed pictures; and sale items for $1, $3, and $5.
The Factory Coffeehouse serves spectacular coffee drinks & panini sandwiches – all handcrafted with love.
